Bountiful Grapefruit Crop.

BOUNTIFUL GRAPEFRUIT CROP

Have you ever seen a grapefruit crop like this one.  They look more like huge bunches of grapes.  Arlene Turi invited me over to house to harvest some of the lucious beauties to bring back to Colordo.

THIS KID’S FAST

Taking a picture of Hudson is a little more challenging than it may seem.  He see’s everything, reacts to a lot of things, and moves very quickly.

BRING YOUR CAMERA

I usually have my camera close because you never know when you might need it.  Suzie and I went out to buy some more parts (mostly electrical) for our condo this afternoon.  I told her that I forgot my camera and I should go back and get it.  You don’t need it was her comment we’re just going to be right back.

Oh those famous words – – – .  On the way home we saw police personnel and fire truck everywhere.  There was a light plane crash right beside us.  A student pilot and an instructor lost power in their light plane and had to land it in a lot right beside the road.  Pilots will tell you that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.  Both were transported to a local hospital with some broken bones, and the plane is I’m sure a loss.  It wasn’t a slide it in landing, it looked like it hit pretty hard.

Here is a great view of the mountains without the plane crash.  Maybe next time.

CALIFORNIA RAIN

I’m sure that you have seen that California was making the national news last week for rainfall.   Pictured below is one of the flower beds adjacent to our home in Palm Desert.

Drowning Flowers

DROWNING FLOWERS

There is a golf course just outside of our back door.  The picture below is supposed to be a fairway!

Fresh new pond.

YOU NEED A BOAT FOR THIS FAIRWAY

The rains created an extra water hazard on the fairway.  The Bob Hope tournament was cancelled for a day, the first time in 30 years!

Duck in a pond.

DUCKS IN A POND

The rains created road closures, leaks in roofs (ours included) and a wonderful fresh coat of new snow on the adjacent mountains in the desert.

FRESH SNOW ON THE MOUNTAINS

The snow created its own issues.  Closed the road to Big Bear, and left 95 people stranded on top of the Palm Springs Tramway.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Pictured here is the Stanley Hotel New Years Day Eve.  The hotel was originally yellow when it was built in 1910.  Some say it is haunted – well, here is a picture taken this evening that makes it look like it did in 1910 when it was yellow.  Ghosts?  Have a Happy New Year.
